The last few days in New York have been quite stifling, but I hate to complain as winter will be here soon enough. I've been admiring the exquisite renovation of interior designer Ryan Korban's duplex on the Upper East Side featured in September's issue of Architectural Digest. His soothing palette of varying shades of gray and white immediately cooled me down.
The townhouse in which the duplex is located exhibits classic architectural details from the late 1800s of high ceilings, miles of panelling and moldings that certainly lends itself to the sumptuous European-style interior decor created by Korban. The mix of contemporary Christian Liaigre and antique Maison Jansen furnishings are perfectly complementary adding to the chic Parisian vibe for a timeless aesthetic. This is totally my vibe!
To add dimension to a room's otherwise neutral palette pop it with a lush bouquet of vibrant pink peonies
The Maison Jansen dining table and custom regency-style dining chairs caught my attention...checkerboard patterned floor tiles make the room a little less formal but maintains the glam!
The contemporary lighting reminiscent of an Alexander Calder mobile adds a distinctly playful edge to the formal dining room...liberal use of gold and bronze finishes warm up the austere gray tones
Is this kind of formality really back with the 35 and under set?? Can't quite believe it - but I love it!!
