Art Basel, held in Miami Beach for the 13th year, December 4th - 7th received an estimated 75,000 attendees. It's an event that draws people from all over the world and is as much about socializing and connecting as it is about the art. Art Basel, the main fair, is held in the Convention Center and Design Miami sits across the way. Eighteen satellite fairs are scattered throughout Miami Beach and Wynwood in downtown Miami. The breadth of inventory on display makes Art Basel a perfect environment to buy, browse or get educated and there are price points to fit every budget. I attended for several years before taking the plunge to purchase anything. Here are highlights from the fairs I visited during 5 days of intense art viewing.
