The main Art Basel event is held at the Convention Center where there are so many galleries, Philippe and I usually take 2 days to walk through. In the past we've done it in one day, but at some point sensory overload sets in and for me at least, it all begins to blur.
Our first stop is at the Marlborough Gallery, one of our favorite galleries in New York and regarded as one of the world's leading modern and contemporary art dealers. With major galleries in London, Madrid and Barcelona as well as New York, Marlborough Gallery represents a group of internationally renowned artists, including Manolo Valdés, Claudio Bravo, Zao Wou-Ki, Red Grooms and Francis Bacon.
I'd love to own a Manolo Valdès, Claudio Bravo and Red Grooms, but for now I'm content to just admire these stunning artworks!
Manolo Valdés - sculpture
Manolo Valdés - alabaster and iron
Manolo Valdés - collage on vellum
Zao Wou-Ki - oil on canvas
Francis Bacon - lithograph
Claudio Bravo
Juan Genovés - acrylic on board
Rufino Tamayo - oil on canvas
