It's mid-August and high time for me to start thinking about Fall/Winter clothing as most collections are now in stores. After taking a quick whip through Style.com to see whose collections I'm interested in, my first port-of-call is Bergdorf's. It's my favorite store in New York because it carries just about all the designers I'm interested in and although edited from what's shown on the runway, there's always a broad enough selection for me to understand the collection and choose from. In recent seasons I've been focusing on finding a special piece or two that adds to my closet and keeps my look current.
I dropped by Bergdorf's yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful collection by Andrew Gn, a designer not previously on my radar. Gn's designs are sumptuously elegant and include beautifully embroidered silk blouses with black lace, velvet ribbon details along with luxe flourishes of Mongolian fur, organza, floral beading and cascades of passementerie hand-knotted fringe trim. As Amy Verner @ style.com noted, "Gn reached peak theme with a final grouping of silk satin sheaths worn with cocoon coats featuring enlarged appliqués of calla, gingko leaves, and peonies, as if lifted from salon wallpaper for an Art Deco effect", which reminded me of how the worlds of fashion and interior design intersect.
