Velvet, brocade and lace dominate Fall trends. So, I thought that would be the discussion for this week's post and then I went in a completely direction, as one does.
While in Chicago last weekend for the Contemporary Art Expo, Philippe and I stopped by Ikram, one of my favorite stores. Although nowadays I'm more likely to shop online than step into a store, I always enjoy the Ikram experience. I often come across a designer I'm not familiar with and Marsen, my favorite salesperson with his keen fashion sense introduces me to clothing I'd otherwise not even consider.
Ikram Goldman, the owner is known for curating a finely edited selection from the best collections of top designers and putting newer, or little-known ones on Chicago's radar. On this visit I was introduced to clothing by Cédric Charlier, a Belgian designer. Formerly with Lanvin, Celine and Cacharel, Cédric went out on his own in 2012. His sophisticated collection of well crafted separates in bold blocks of color have clean silhouettes, unexpected details and dressmaker finished seams. I tried on a gorgeous leather tunic, which buttons on one shoulder that fitted me perfectly, so of course I bought it.
Now back to the search for velvet, brocade and lace.
