I've been on the search for a shopping experience that would be a source of inspiration and atypical of holiday gifts and home decor buys. With mere seconds to spare as Christmas is practically here, I read an article this morning on Quintessence Blog introducing me to a select group of eclectic boutiques in and around New Preston in Litchfield, Connecticut.
First up is George Home a home design store in neighboring Washington offering a well edited global mix of furniture and accessories. Their eclectic selection of artisanal and vintage items reminds me of Brooklyn boutiques.
Pergola Home located in Preston has a sophisticated yet rustic style offering orchids, paper whites, florals, and lesser-known plants; dishes, candleholders, art books, wildlife and botanical prints - just about any item here would make a cherished gift...not to be missed is a comprehensive selection of decoupage plates and trays from John Derian displayed in similar fashion to his set-up in his namesake store on the Lower East Side...I did a post on the John Derian Picture Book which you can read here
Privet House features everything for hosting the perfect holiday dinner party with a variety of tabletop goods that includes plates, dishes, one-of-kind ceramic containers, colorful bar-ware, antique candlesticks and table linens are all players in creating a customized and personal holiday table setting
What an artful rainbow display of glass-ware to enjoy during the holidays and year-round
The classic minimalism of Plain Goods is timeless...
If you're having guests staying throughout the holiday season enjoy an array of artisinal soaps, toiletries, hand-made bedlinen and towels
