Design for Living: Re-Imagine Your Entry for the New Year

As the entry is the major focal point to your home it pays to put some thought and time into making it as inviting as possible  Typically this area particularly in New York apartments is a relatively small space, but whatever its size this is an opportunity to make your entry remarkable and show off some creative flair!

I'm a big advocate of making the entry both easy on the eye and practical.  This is the ideal spot to drop your mail, handbag and keys when you arrive and doing a final check in the mirror before leaving. Essential elements include a console or small chest, mirror, table lamp, wall sconce and small tray to throw keys. If there's room add a whimsical chair or ottoman. Add drama by replacing the mirror with a piece of art and a runner with a jazzy print for an intimate jewel box or big wow effect.
