If you have day-dreamed about living in a grand home in the English countryside, let me introduce you to Paula Sutton, who is doing just that and has released a beautifully illustrated book about her cozy cottage-core lifestyle this month.
Born and raised in London of West Indian parents, Paula and her mother shared a passion for large country houses and would pore over Country Life magazines together. After a fast-paced career as Head of Press for the Elite Modeling Agency, Paula decided to pick up sticks, follow her dream and moved with her husband and three young children to Hill House in rural Norfolk.
With its classic Georgian architecture and expansive garden, which actually looks more like a small park, Hill House is perfectly suited to the English traditional country decor mix of antiques and vintage auction finds. Living at Hill House for the past 10 years Paula has been sharing the progress of decorating her home and living the country life with her 504,000 Instagram followers @hillhousevintage
I was introduced to Hill House Vintage by my nephew and found her posts to be the perfect panacea throughout the pandemic. It was both relaxing and soothing to check in with Paula living a seemingly charmed life in cozy seclusion with her family, baking delicious cakes, an avid gardener tending her vegetable garden and walking her dog, Coco. Her eloquent captions and some very corny jokes were the footnotes of her posts.
More than just a coffee table book, “ Hill House Living: The Art of Creating a Joyful Life is a gorgeous guide to the simple pleasures of cottage living - antique hunting, gardening, and enjoying the seasons - from a beloved British design and fashion influencer.”
