I returned to Brooklyn from London and Paris last weekend and finally feel free of jet lag. My first stop was in London and during this trip I made visits for lunch and dinner to the recently opened Ham Yard Hotel in Soho, which along with several small boutiques in the courtyard is collectively known as Ham Yard Village...

I'm a huge fan of the London based Firmdale Hotel group. Whenever Philippe and I are in London we stay at their Knightsbridge Hotel and its become our home away from home. One Denman Place with apartments for stays of 90 days or more has just been added to this distinctive group, located in the Ham Yard hotel in Soho, which itself opened just last year. Renowned interior designer, Anouska Hempel is known for creating arguably, the world's first boutique luxury hotel, Blakes, in 1978. I've been following Anouska's extraordinary career for many years and her creativity and ability to reimagine spaces continues to be utterly captivating.

Should that dream ever come true, my hotel of choice would likely be one from the Firmdale Group. Kit & Tim Kemp have over the last 30 years transformed the London boutique hotel scene, placing their very individual stamp on an ever growing group of hotels in London, including The Knightsbridge, Charlotte Street, Number 16, Haymarket and most recently Ham Yard. In 2010 they opened in New York with Crosby Street, Soho and another hotel is currently being built in mid-town.
